Navigating emotions in the professional world

I had the pleasure of leading an open conversation at a fantastic IPWS - International Professional Women's Society event.
Together, we tackled a topic that’s often treated as taboo in professional settings: EMOTIONS.

We explored the challenges and biases women face in navigating emotions at work, including:
Why being a “good employee” isn’t always enough to get recognized
How being passionate can sometimes be labeled as being “too intense” when we are a woman
The misunderstandings that arise when we make assumptions about others' feelings and intentions (especially if we work remotely)
Here are three key insights I shared to help transform emotions into tools for growth and empowerment:
1️⃣ Understand your triggers: By identifying what sets you off, you can shift from reactive to proactive responses in stressful situations. (It takes practice!)
2️⃣ Lead with empathy: Empathy is about fostering trust and connection—it’s a strength, not a weakness.
3️⃣ Acknowledge your emotions: Emotions are signals, not obstacles. Learning to navigate them helps you harness their power. (And yes, it also takes practice!)
