When obedience becomes the obstacle

Many of us grew up being praised for being “good,” “easy,” “well-behaved.”
We followed the rules. We didn’t make trouble.
And we carried that with us: into school, into work, into adulthood.
But here’s the challenge:
In today’s world, doing what you're told isn’t enough.
In fact, it can hold you back.

❌ As a coach, I often meet high-achievers who feel stuck, not because they lack talent, but because they’ve spent years trying to do things right, instead of doing what feels true.
This week, I found myself reflecting on this:
👉 How do we learn to challenge the rules… without being afraid of showing who we really are? or of being rejected?
If you manage a team:
👉 Are you encouraging compliance or cultivating critical thinking?
Because teams that only follow instructions rarely innovate.
But teams that feel safe to question, push back, and suggest new approaches? That’s where real transformation happens.
💡 True growth doesn't come from perfect obedience. It comes from knowing when to challenge, and having the curiosity to explore what’s possible.
